At least 14 people were injured in a stampede during TikToker Patlo’s mehndi ceremony at a stadium on Daska Road in Sialkot, according to rescue officials.
A large crowd had gathered at the venue’s entrance ahead of a planned prize draw. The situation turned chaotic when the gate opened, triggering a stampede that left several people injured.
Thousands of people reportedly travelled from distant areas to attend the ceremony, attracted by the prizes announced for the event.
The planned draw included 50 motorcycles and one car, along with cash prizes of Rs50,000 each. Organisers had also announced financial assistance for the dowries of 20 deserving orphan girls.
Following the incident, the mehndi ceremony was cancelled.
The incident occurred amid considerable public interest in the TikToker’s wedding celebrations. Patlo had also reportedly announced plans to distribute large amounts of money during the wedding festivities.
The incident highlights the crowd-management challenges that can arise at heavily attended public events, particularly when large prize giveaways attract thousands of visitors.
