SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: A month-long sports festival organized by FC South Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Sports Department concluded on Saturday in Wana FC Stadium, Lower South Waziristan district. The festival included various sports competitions such as football, volleyball, tug-of-war, traditional dance, and cricket matches.
The final football match was played between Lower South Waziristan and Upper South Waziristan at Wana FC Scouts ground, Wazir club won the match by four goals, taking the lead against Shaheen Club.
Security officials said, FC South Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provided playing opportunities to local youth, and various sports competitions were held. The festival aimed to promote sports in Lower South Waziristan and Upper South Waziristan, but also provided a platform for young talent to shine.
Commandant South Waziristan Scouts Wana Muhammad Tahir was the chief guest, accompanied by Tehsil Wana Chairman Maulana Muhammad Saleh Wazir and tribal elders along with a large number of youths who participated in the Sports festival.
Tehsil Wana Chairman Maulana Saleh Wazir praised the festival, saying it sends a good message to the world. He emphasized the need for such festivals to continue, showcasing the talent among Waziristan’s youth.
Tribal elders and youths thanked FC South Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for organizing the festival, stating that such positive activities bring prosperity and development to the region.
They acknowledged the abundance of talent among Waziristan’s youth but lamented the lack of facilities compared to other districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
A large number of fans attended the sports events, enjoying the finals and praising the organizers.
Players emphasized the importance of sports activities in sending a message to the world about the talent in Waziristan.
In the final match, Chief Guest Commandant South Waziristan Scouts Force Muhammad Tahir and Tehsil Chairman Wana Maulana Saleh Wazir distributed cash prizes and trophies to the winner and runner teams’ players.
The South Waziristan Sports Festival was a resounding success, promoting sports and providing a platform for young talent. The festival’s continuation is crucial for the region’s development and showcasing Waziristan’s potential.
Local community said that every year, the continuation of sports activities like the Waziristan Sports Festival sends a powerful message to the world, the people of Waziristan are peaceful, and their youth are brimming with talent. However, due to the lack of sports facilities, this talent is being suppressed, and the local youth are suffering.
Local further said, this series of events showcases the potential of Waziristan’s youth, emphasizing the need for better sports infrastructure to nurture their skills and bring prosperity to the region, by continuing this tradition, Waziristan can proudly declare to the world that its people are peaceful and its youth are talented, deserving of recognition and support.
