Former Pakistan captain and legendary fast bowler Wasim Akram has declined an invitation to attend the Afghanistan Premier League (APL) auction ceremony.

According to sources, a franchise invited Akram to attend the auction event, but the former captain turned down the offer.

The Afghanistan Premier League auction was held in the UAE on November 3. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly barred Pakistani players from participating in the Afghan league.

Meanwhile, former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir was picked by Kandahar Warriors in the Platinum category, having registered for the players’ draft using his British passport.

Amir is currently based in England and obtained British citizenship in May this year.

Kandahar Warriors selected Amir with their first pick, ahead of experienced Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi.

The APL is scheduled to take place towards the end of this year. However, Pakistani cricketers are unlikely to receive No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) from the PCB to participate in the tournament.
