Cadet College Wana Students Recall Terror Attack, Army Ensures Safe Evacuation

WANA : A student of Cadet College Wana has shared the frightening experience of Saturday night’s terrorist assault, recalling how a sudden explosion shattered the calm as cadets prepared for a drill competition.

“We were all on the parade ground practicing when the blast went off,” the cadet said, describing how teachers immediately stepped in to calm the students and maintain order.

According to the Inter‑Services Public Relations (ISPR), militants affiliated with the India‑backed group Fitna Al‑Khawarij attempted to storm the college on Monday by ramming an explosives‑laden vehicle into the main gate. The impact destroyed the gate and damaged nearby structures.

Security forces responded swiftly. Two attackers were killed instantly, while three others were trapped inside the premises and later eliminated in a clearance operation.

Reflecting on the ordeal, the rescued cadet said, “Our teachers kept assuring us that the Pakistan Army had arrived. We knew this attack was aimed at education itself, but no matter what they do, they cannot stop us from learning.”

The student added that soldiers safely evacuated all cadets to a secure location before the final operation began.

Army’s Rapid Response in Wana

Operation Commander Colonel Muhammad Tahir confirmed that a suicide bomber detonated near the college gate while other militants tried to force their way inside with the apparent aim of taking students hostage.

“Our troops acted immediately, preventing the attackers from reaching the cadets,” he said.

Colonel Tahir explained that the militants were contained within a specific block and neutralised in a decisive action between 10:00 and 10:30pm, after the safe evacuation of students, teachers, and staff.

“All terrorists involved in the assault were killed,” he stated, underscoring that the operation ensured no harm came to the cadets.

Resilience in the Face of Terror

The incident highlights both the vulnerability of educational institutions and the resilience of students and teachers who refused to be cowed by violence. For the cadets of Wana, the attack was a stark reminder of the threats facing Pakistan’s youth, but also of the protection provided by the armed forces.
