India’s star batter Virat Kohli is currently going through a tough phase as his bat remains silent, and he has been facing criticism for his lack of form. Due to his low scores in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and multiple dismissals behind the stumps, questions are being raised about the future of his Test career. Kohli managed only 190 runs in five matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia.
In this series, Kohli was dismissed behind the stumps eight times in nine innings while attempting to play cover drives, with bowlers now fully aware of his technical weaknesses, making it easier for them to target him.
Due to his consistent lack of runs, Indian captain Rohit Sharma was dropped from the final Test against Australia, which led to further questions about Kohli’s future in the Test team. However, according to Indian media, Kohli is not yet in the mood to retire. He has committed to playing Test and ODI cricket until the 2027 World Cup.
On the other hand, Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma broke his silence regarding the rumors of his retirement from Test cricket. According to Indian media, Rohit Sharma clarified that he is not retiring from Test cricket for now and that he missed the last match against Australia due to being out of form.
Rohit said that his decision to stay out of the Sydney Test should not be seen as a retirement. He added that people with pens or laptops cannot decide when a player should retire.
The Indian captain further stated, “People sitting outside cannot decide when I should sit out or when I should captain. I am a wise and mature person, a father of two children, so I know when and what decisions to make.”
