Former Australian Test cricketer Usman Khawaja has made fresh revelations about the infamous 2018 ball-tampering scandal, claiming that the entire Australian team was aware of the practice during the tour of South Africa.

According to Khawaja, ball tampering was not limited to the Cape Town Test but had also taken place during the earlier Test match in Gqeberha.

In his autobiography, Unfiltered, scheduled for publication on Tuesday, Khawaja has detailed his account of the controversy that rocked Australian cricket.

Speaking in newspaper interviews, he said the incident involved more than just Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft, arguing that the entire team knew what was happening.

Khawaja said he wanted collective responsibility to be acknowledged, as he believed the whole squad was aware of the ball-tampering activities. However, only three players were punished, leaving them to face prolonged criticism and difficulties.

He also revealed that he regularly sat with Cameron Bancroft in the dressing room during the Cape Town Test but was never interviewed by Cricket Australia investigators during the inquiry.

Khawaja said he was confident that he would have told the truth had investigators questioned him.

In response, Cricket Australia said it remained satisfied with the investigation conducted into the 2018 incident and the findings announced at the time.
