Usho Forest Poised to Become New Tourist Attraction.

SWAT: In line with the tourism vision of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, the provincial government has decided to take major steps to make its tourist destinations more attractive and sustainable. As part of these efforts, the Department of KP Tourism and the Department of KP Forests have joined hands to establish an Eco-Tourism Zone in the picturesque Usho Forest of Kalam Valley. Following the success of the jointly developed Manro Trek project, this initiative marks another significant stride toward boosting tourism and strengthening the local economy. A traditionally designed rest area will also be developed within Usho Forest to enhance facilities for visitors. Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Tourism Dr. Abdul Samad emphasized that Usho Forest is not merely a Forest but a captivating destination for travelers. He further noted that the “Usho Eco-Tourism Zone” will serve as a model project for the province, generating employment opportunities and contributing to local livelihoods. The Department of Forests has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the natural beauty of Usho, making it clear that no activity will be permitted that harms the natural environment. Meanwhile, the Department of KP Tourism announced that in collaboration with the KP Forest Department and local communities, further eco-tourism projects are being designed to ensure environmental conservation while unlocking new opportunities for sustainable tourism in the region.
