SIALKOT: U.S. Chargé d’Affaires to Pakistan Natalie A. Baker highlighted the strength of the U.S.-Pakistan economic partnership during a visit to Sialkot, praising the city’s business community and underscoring opportunities for expanded bilateral trade and investment.

Speaking at a luncheon hosted by the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce, Baker pointed to the depth of commercial ties between the two countries and noted that bilateral trade was projected to exceed $8 billion in 2025. She said the growth reflects a strong foundation for a fair and balanced trade relationship that benefits both nations.

“The expansion of trade highlights the positive impact of U.S. economic engagement in Pakistan and globally,” Baker said, adding that the United States has been Pakistan’s largest export market for more than two decades and remains a leading investor, offering significant potential for further growth and shared prosperity.

During her visit, the U.S. envoy toured major export-oriented companies, including Forward Sports, First American Corporation Limited, and CA Sports, all of which are globally recognised players in Sialkot’s sporting goods industry. She also visited Sialkot International Airport and met with the leadership of AirSial.

Officials said the engagements highlighted the importance of U.S.-Pakistan cooperation in global supply chains, job creation, and trade-led economic development. Nearly 70 per cent of exports by First American Corporation Limited are destined for the U.S. market, reflecting strong consumer demand and long-standing commercial linkages.

Baker said the United States remains committed to supporting economic growth by bringing American technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship to help create jobs and strengthen communities in both countries.

The visit coincided with preparations for the United States’ 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, which Baker described as an opportunity to look ahead to future leadership in innovation, commerce, and global engagement. She also referenced the upcoming major international sporting events to be hosted by the United States, noting that sports and business partnerships continue to connect people and markets worldwide.

“The United States remains deeply invested in Pakistan and its people,” Baker said, adding that bilateral relations continue to grow through trade, innovation, education, and cultural exchange.
