Urs of Qalander Baba Auliya (RA) Observed with Devotion in Karachi and Islamabad

KARACHI/ISLAMABAD — The annual Urs of Qalander Baba Auliya (RA), a renowned saint and spiritual scholar of the 21st century, was commemorated with devotion and respect in Karachi and Islamabad, drawing large gatherings of followers and admirers.

The central ceremony took place on January 7 at the Meditation Hall in Surjani Town, Karachi, while another major event was held on January 4, 2026, at Bahria Town Phase 7, Islamabad, under the supervision of Qazi Maqsood Ahmed Azeemi, Incharge of the Rawalpindi/Islamabad meditation centre. The Urs of Qalander Baba Auliya, whose name was Syed Muhammad Azeem, is observed annually in Pakistan and abroad, particularly on the first Sunday of January.

The program in Islamabad was divided into two sessions. The first featured disciplined performances by children, including Quran recitation by Meerab, Hamd by Maryam Harem, Naat by Khawla and Zainab, and Manqabat by Shafaq Abid. Speeches and poetry were also presented, with Hooriya Zahid speaking on the role of teachers and Makram Shiraz reciting a Rubai of Qalander Baba Auliya.

The second session included Quran recitation by Qari Javed Iqbal and Naat by Mahira Faryal Qasim Azeemi. Manqabat was presented by Mahima Shamama Azeemi, Fahad Azeemi, and Jawad Azeemi, while Rahila Zulfiqar Azeemi and Mahira Sima Aziz Azeemi delivered essays highlighting the life and teachings of the saint. The ceremony concluded with a speech by Qazi Maqsood Ahmed Azeemi.

During the event, three books compiling the audio and video lectures of Hazrat Khwaja Shamsuddin Azeemi were unveiled: Awli al-Albab, Adam Day Lectures, and Spiritual Healing. Organizers emphasized that the publications aim to foster a culture of reading and provide guidance for future generations.

The Urs concluded with the offering of Durud and Salam, followed by the distribution of langar to attendees who had traveled from various regions to participate.
