University of Swat Inaugurates Social Lab to Foster Innovation and Entrepreneurship

SWAT: The University of Swat, in collaboration with the Hashoo Foundation, with funding from the European Union and execution by UNODC Pakistan and NACTA, proudly inaugurated the Social Lab today. The ceremony was graced by Commissioner Malakand Division, Mr. Muhammad Abid Khan as Chief Guest. Other distinguished guests included Mr. Haris Qayyum Khan, CEO Hashoo Foundation, Mr. Muhammad Qasim Khan, DG KPCEV and Dr. Ayaz Khan, Chief Coordinator/Executive Officer KPCEV. The Chief Guest applauded the initiative and commended the efforts of the University in fostering innovation and education.

The Social Lab is a groundbreaking initiative designed to equip students with essential future skills and social business acumen. It will serve as a hub for nurturing entrepreneurial ideas, facilitating research, and incubating startups to address critical social challenges in the region. With a focus on collaboration and practical engagement, the Social Lab will empower students and the local community, ensuring sustainable development and accelerated economic growth.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor, University of Swat, Prof. Dr. Hassan Sher (SAARC Gold-Medalist), expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Guest, Commissioner Malakand Division, for his esteemed presence and continued support for the University. Prof. Dr. Hassan Sher remarked, “The Social Lab is a step forward in transforming the academic landscape of the University of Swat. This initiative reflects our commitment to fostering innovation and addressing the pressing social challenges of our time. We are deeply honored to have the support of the Commissioner Malakand Division and are inspired by his encouragement to continue raising the standard of education at our institution.”
The Chief Guest, in his address, commended the visionary leadership of Prof. Dr. Hassan Sher for spearheading efforts to enhance the quality of education at the University of Swat. He lauded the establishment of the Social Lab as a transformative initiative and emphasized its importance in building a skilled and innovative youth for the region. He also acknowledged the collaborative efforts of the Hashoo Foundation, European Union, UNODC Pakistan, and NACTA in making the project a reality.

The Social Lab aims to be a center of excellence, bringing students, faculty, and the community together to work on innovative solutions for societal improvement. It is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of education and entrepreneurship in the region.

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Dr. Hassan Sher, who reiterated his commitment to fostering excellence in education and community service.
