Swat: The University of Agriculture Swat has finalised a comprehensive academic collaboration with the Mian Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture Multan, focusing on faculty exchange, joint research, climate change studies, and the mutual sharing of academic expertise.
The collaboration was formally discussed and approved during a joint meeting of Vice Chancellors Dawood Jan and Asif Ali, held on January 19 and 20, 2026, at MNSUAM Multan.
A central feature of the partnership is the Faculty Exchange Program, a flagship initiative of the University of Agriculture Swat approved by its statutory bodies in January 2024. Under this programme, the first batch of faculty members from the University of Agriculture Swat will be deputed to Ghazi University on February 2, 2026, followed by another batch to Mian Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture Multan.

The University of Agriculture Swat has taken a leading role at the national level in launching this initiative, which aims to provide faculty members with shared academic experiences, collaborative research opportunities, and access to laboratories and research facilities at partner institutions. The programme places special emphasis on agriculture, plant protection, climate-smart farming, food security, and allied disciplines.

The collaboration also promotes joint research publications, guest lectures, joint supervision of students, academic development activities, and the organisation of seminars, conferences, workshops, and training programmes. The initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2030, particularly in areas related to sustainable agriculture and climate resilience.
The faculty exchange and placement programme has been approved by the Finance and Planning Committee as well as the Syndicate of the University of Agriculture Swat. It has been designed to allow reciprocal faculty placements during summer and winter breaks between universities located in different climatic zones. Under the approved framework, faculty from the University of Agriculture Swat will be placed in partner institutions during winter, while faculty from collaborating universities will be hosted in Swat during the summer. Faculty members participating in the programme will be treated as being on official duty.
The key objectives of the initiative include breaking academic monotony, encouraging the exchange of ideas and expertise, enhancing interdisciplinary research productivity, promoting student and faculty mobility, strengthening national integration, and building institutional capacity through shared learning and resources.
University officials said the faculty exchange programme marks an important milestone in strengthening inter-university cooperation and advancing sustainable academic and research development across Pakistan.
