DUBAI: The United Arab Emirates has announced a special grace period allowing foreign residents whose UAE residence visas expired while they were outside the country to return until March 31, 2026, according to reports in Emirati media.

The temporary measure is intended to help affected residents restore their legal status and complete travel and immigration procedures in an orderly manner, authorities said.

Officials said the initiative is particularly aimed at individuals who were unable to return to the UAE or renew their residency permits on time due to various circumstances.

Grace period offers opportunity to regularize status

During the grace period, returning residents may receive leniency regarding certain financial penalties and administrative restrictions. Authorities noted that any relief would depend on the nature of each case and existing immigration regulations.

Officials emphasized that legal residency status can only be restored after completing required immigration procedures and submitting the necessary documentation.

Authorities urge residents to act before deadline

Authorities advised affected individuals to clarify their residency status within the specified period and follow official procedures to avoid potential legal complications in the future.
