Islamabad: U.S. Mission to Pakistan on Wednesday launched its “Freedom 250 Liberty Bell” initiative, themed “Let Freedom Ring,” with an unveiling ceremony held at Lincoln Corner Islamabad to mark the upcoming 250th anniversary of American independence.
The initiative was inaugurated by Natalie A. Baker, Chargé d’Affaires of the United States to Pakistan, who unveiled a full-sized replica of the iconic Liberty Bell. The launch marks the beginning of a series of cultural and public engagement events aimed at commemorating the milestone anniversary and highlighting the enduring role of diplomacy in shaping the United States’ history and global engagement.
The original Liberty Bell, housed in Philadelphia, is one of the most enduring symbols of American freedom and democracy. Cast in 1752, the bell played a notable role during the American Revolution and was rung to mark significant historical moments, including the signing of the U.S. Constitution in 1787. Today, it stands as a powerful reminder of the founding ideals of freedom, justice, and equality.

In her remarks, Chargé Baker reflected on the Liberty Bell’s historical legacy and its association with pivotal moments in U.S. history, including the abolition of slavery. She noted that the symbolism of the Liberty Bell aligns naturally with Lincoln Corner’s mission of promoting learning about American values such as freedom of speech and civic engagement.
She also highlighted the contributions of American diplomats with roots in Philadelphia, emphasizing the personal and historical connections that continue to strengthen the U.S.–Pakistan relationship.
As part of the “Let Freedom Ring” initiative, 15 Liberty Bell replicas will be distributed to Lincoln Corners across Pakistan. Local artists and student volunteers will be invited to decorate the bells under the theme “What Freedom Means to Me,” offering creative interpretations that reflect diverse perspectives on freedom.
The decorated Liberty Bells will be showcased during U.S. Independence Day celebrations in Pakistan later this year and will also feature in a commemorative video to be shared by the U.S. Embassy. The initiative aims to amplify the voices and talents of Pakistanis while fostering cultural exchange and dialogue.
Officials said the program underscores the importance of people-to-people ties and cultural diplomacy in strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and the United States.
