Two young men died and four others were hospitalized after generator fumes filled a room in Karachi’s Bhittai Colony, located near Korangi Crossing, according to rescue officials and hospital authorities.
The victims lost consciousness after an LPG generator was reportedly operated during a power outage. All six affected individuals were taken to Indus Hospital’s Korangi campus for emergency treatment.
Two Victims Succumb Despite Medical Efforts
According to an Indus Hospital spokesperson, doctors treated all six patients after they were admitted with suspected exposure to generator fumes.
Despite medical efforts, two patients—identified as 18-year-old Nadeem and 20-year-old Waqas—died. Hospital officials said the remaining four patients are in stable condition and are no longer in immediate danger.
Survivors Describe Incident
One of the surviving patients told hospital staff that an LPG generator was switched on after electricity was disrupted in the morning.
Shortly afterward, those inside the room began losing consciousness, prompting their transfer to the hospital.
Hospital officials said most of the affected individuals are residents of Nawabshah, while one person is from Hyderabad.
Authorities have not released further details about the incident, and no official investigation findings have been announced.
