Officials have revealed alarming figures of TTP infiltration in KP, confirming that more than 8,000 terrorists have crossed from Afghanistan. These militants entered through little-known border routes and are now present in Peshawar, Bannu, Tank, Dera Ismail Khan, Lakki Marwat, Swat, Shangla, and merged districts.

The infiltrators often hide among the local population. According to officials, they establish illegal checkpoints on the CPEC Road, DI Khan–Bannu Road, and in Tank. From these positions, they carry out sudden attacks against security forces.

Surge in Terror Attacks

A police report revealed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa witnessed 605 terror incidents in the first eight months of 2025. These attacks killed 138 civilians and wounded 352. In the same period, 79 police personnel were martyred, and 130 others were injured.

In August alone, 129 incidents were reported. Seventeen civilians and 13 police officers lost their lives, while nearly 100 others sustained injuries. Bannu recorded the highest figure with 42 incidents. North and South Waziristan, along with Dir, also reported frequent strikes.

Difficulties in Retaliation

Government officials admitted that security forces face serious challenges in responding to infiltrators. Militants attack swiftly and escape, often causing casualties during retaliation. Still, forces recently killed 80 infiltrators in Bajaur and North Waziristan.

Tribal elders, in jirgas chaired by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, expressed anger over unchecked infiltration. They demanded that the provincial government raise the matter with Afghan authorities.

Government and Police Response

KP spokesperson Muhammad Ali Saif condemned the militants for recording roadblock videos and fleeing under cover of night. He promised that intelligence-based operations will intensify.

Inspector General Zulfiqar Hameed said police remain fully aware of TTP movements. He confirmed 39 terrorists were killed and 110 arrested in 190 operations during August. To secure highways, police have launched day-and-night patrols in collaboration with the Motorway Police.
