A traditional auction of Bluefin tuna fish was held at the Tokyo Fish Market, where a 276-kilogram tuna was sold for 1.3 million yen. This made it the second most expensive fish in history. The tuna was jointly purchased by a wholesale company and a sushi restaurant.
The most expensive tuna fish was sold in 2019 for 31 million dollars. Bluefin tuna meat is traditionally used in Japanese cuisine, particularly in sushi.
