The district administration’s possible demolition of shops under the pretext of an anti-encroachment operation in Timergara Bazaar has led traders to set up a protest camp at Thana Chowk. Political leaders visited the camp and assured the traders of their full support. During the protest, Haji Anwaruddin (President of the Timergara Traders’ Union), General Secretary Haji Laiqzada, Jamaat-e-Islami’s Amir Maulana Asadullah, former MNA and President of Dir Qaumi Jirga Sahibzada Muhammad Yaqoob Khan, Jamaat-e-Islami Lower Dir General Secretary Yaqoob-ur-Rehman, Jamaat-e-Islami Timergara Tehsil Amir Malik Sher Bahadur Khan, former PPP National Assembly candidate Alamzeb Advocate, PPP Tehsil Khal President Zahoorzada, and others addressed the participants. They rejected the potential operation and demolition of shops under the guise of road widening in Timergara Bazaar, noting that the district administration has previously expanded the road multiple times. They claimed that, during previous operations under cover of night, some shops were seized, leading to damage to goods worth millions of rupees, which they described as an injustice. They added that the road is currently widened to 60 feet, and the traders would not accept further demolition of shops, calling it an economic massacre. They stated that, under the guise of the beautification project, the administration is turning Timergara into ruins instead of completing the project. They warned that the business community would strongly resist any further demolition of shops.
