Senior Pakistani actor Kashif Mehmood revealed that he struggled for seven years, even working as an extra at PTV, before getting any major roles.
Recently, Kashif Mehmood appeared as a guest on a private TV show, where he discussed his journey in the entertainment industry.
He shared, “In the early days of my career, I walked to PTV for seven years, and even worked as an extra. I used to see big posters of Sultan Rahi, Abid Ali, and Mohammad Qavi on the streets of the PTV office and think that one day, there would be posters of me too. In my first drama, I was cast as an extra, just showing my hair and the back of my body. Even then, I used to tell people that it was me.”
The senior actor emphasized that the struggles in life help a person learn and grow. He mentioned that his family supported him throughout his journey, and despite being the eldest in the family, his parents never stopped him from pursuing acting.
Talking about producing his first drama, Kashif Mehmood shared, “When preparing for my first drama, I didn’t even have enough petrol to put in my bike, but suddenly I planned a drama that would cost around 22 to 23 lakh rupees to make.”
According to Kashif Mehmood, “For my first drama, I borrowed money from several people and even pledged my mother’s jewelry. I borrowed so much that it became hard to even step out of the streets. But the drama became a super hit, though the channel it was aired on was shut down. Later, the channel reopened, but I never received the payment. Eventually, I aired it on PTV, paid off the loan of 22 lakh, and made a profit of 7 lakh.”
