RAWALPINDI: A three-day special anti-polio campaign was launched in Taxila on Monday, with 651 teams deployed to vaccinate children under the age of five through door-to-door coverage.
Member of the National Assembly Asiya Naz Tanoli formally inaugurated the Special National Immunization Drive at Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Taxila. The campaign aims to protect children from polio and support Pakistan’s efforts to eliminate the disease.
Assistant Commissioner Taxila Maria Javed, Deputy District Health Officer Dr Shahzad Rasool, Medical Superintendent THQ Hospital Dr Kashif Azad and other health department officials attended the inauguration ceremony.
Speaking at the event, Asiya Naz Tanoli said the government remained committed to eradicating polio and urged parents to ensure that all eligible children receive anti-polio drops.
Health teams to conduct door-to-door vaccination
Deputy District Health Officer Dr Shahzad Rasool said 651 polio teams had been deployed across Taxila for the three-day campaign.
He said the teams would visit households to ensure that every child under five is vaccinated during the drive.
Parents urged to cooperate
Assistant Commissioner Maria Javed appealed to parents to cooperate with polio workers and help make the campaign successful.
She said public participation and coordination between the local administration and health department were essential for achieving the goal of a polio-free Pakistan.
Officials said the campaign would focus on reaching every eligible child in Taxila and preventing missed vaccinations during the three-day drive.
