The roads in Pind Dadan Khan city resemble ruins. The once carpeted road constructed at a cost of 220 million rupees has completely vanished. From Al-Biruni Degree College to the city, the Railway Road is in a state of disrepair. Dust rising from the broken road has made life miserable for citizens and shopkeepers alike.
A sum of 50 million rupees was spent on the city’s sewerage system, yet it has failed to benefit the residents. During rainfall, water enters the shops. The foul smell from open drains near the Government High School makes it difficult for students to sit in classrooms. Many students have fallen victim to malaria and dengue. The abundance of mosquitoes has made life unbearable for residents and patients. Due to the lack of a proper drainage system, areas like the bus stand and local neighborhoods resemble ponds during rain. The sewerage system is clogged with plastic bags and mud, and the resulting filth and stench are spreading diseases. The city lacks even a single public toilet.
People from surrounding areas like Khewra, Golpur, Kora, Choran, Sroba, Tobha, Harnpur, and Duffer come to Pind Dadan Khan for shopping, contributing millions of rupees in business every month. Yet, the Traders Association and local administration have never thought of providing public restrooms. Residents and local citizens have urgently called on Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and the Deputy Commissioner of Jhelum to address these pressing issues without delay.
