THATTA, March 31: The district administration in Thatta has announced a four-day blood donation campaign to support around 600 thalassemia patients in Thatta and Sujawal, aiming to ease shortages that affect regular treatment.
According to officials, the campaign will begin next Monday and continue until Thursday, with a blood donation camp to be set up at Civil Hospital Thatta for collection.
Deputy Commissioner Sarmad Baghat, addressing a meeting at Darbar Hall, said many families face difficulties due to limited blood availability, often requiring frequent travel to Karachi for transfusions. He noted that the campaign is intended to provide local support and reduce the burden on patients and their families.
The deputy commissioner directed the District Health Officer to oversee the initiative and called on residents to participate in the drive. Representatives from various institutions and civil society organisations attended the meeting.
