Peshawar (Junaid Toru) — An impactful seminar titled “Environmental Degradation: Impacts and Mitigation”, followed by an awareness rally and a tree plantation drive, was held at the University Public School, University of Peshawar. The event was organized by Thal Welfare Organization in collaboration with Helping Hand and the University of Peshawar, marking a significant step toward community-led environmental action.
The initiative aimed to raise awareness about ecological challenges and promote sustainable practices. Notably, the Thal Welfare Organization environment campaign brought together educators, students, and civil society leaders in a unified effort to protect natural resources.
Professor Dr. Muneer attended as chief guest, while Additional Treasurer of the University of Peshawar, Naveed Sardar, and Helping Hand Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Regional Manager, Aminullah, were present as guests of honor. Rashid Shinwari, President of the University of Peshawar Youth Empowerment Club, also participated in the ceremony.
During his address, Thal Welfare Organization Chairman Zahidullah emphasized the importance of education and environmental stewardship. He shared that the organization has supported thousands of students and planted over 28,000 saplings to combat deforestation. “Education is the fundamental right of every individual, and the protection of our environment is a collective responsibility,” he stated.
Moreover, the Thal Welfare Organization environment initiative received strong institutional backing. The organization extended heartfelt thanks to Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Johar Ali, Registrar Mr. Yureed Ahsan Zia, Director of Administration Mr. Bachamuneer, Chairman of the Criminology Department Dr. Abrar, and the Press Information Department for their support and coverage.
In addition, the organization acknowledged the active participation of students and volunteers. Their engagement made the seminar and plantation drive both successful and meaningful. Through such collaborative efforts, the Thal Welfare Organization environment mission continues to inspire youth and promote sustainable change across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
