Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar accused Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur of misleading the foreign media at a briefing in Peshawar today.
He termed the Gandapur allegations as false, inflammatory and harmful to national unity, Express News reported.
Speaking to the media, Tarar said it was important to present facts to counter Gandapur’s claims. He criticized PTI leaders’ tendency to make provocative statements and said, “These baseless allegations are a symptom of the politics that divides them.”
Tarar recounted past incidents involving PTI leaders, including the 2014 attack on PTV headquarters that targeted law enforcement personnel. He said PTI leaders instigated violent protests but abandoned their supporters when confronted by the authorities.
Referring to Gandapur’s recent comment that PTI’s next call will not be peaceful, Atta Tarar asked, “Were your earlier protests peaceful?” He accused the party of fabricating stories containing claims of mass casualties and spreading fake images using artificial intelligence.
The minister also criticized his ex-wife Bushra Bibi for inciting PTI workers and asked why both she and Gandapur fled during the protest, leaving their supporters behind.
Tarar said the party has failed politically, morally and administratively, pointing out that PTI does not take care of provincial affairs. He reiterated the government’s duty to bring those responsible for the May 9 incident to justice and said the nation would never forget the actions of that day.
He also accused PTI of conducting a propaganda campaign against the national organization on social media.
The allegations came as Gandapur, while speaking to foreign media, said he wanted to carry out all the directives of PTI founder Imran Khan, including the call for civil disobedience.
Addressing the international media at the Prime Minister’s House in Peshawar this morning, Gandapur said that the law and order situation in the country has deteriorated since the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) coalition, adding that government agencies are busy dismantling the PTI. instead of solving national problems.
“The situation was better under the government of Imran Khan. But after the arrival of PDM, the focus is completely on PTI.”
“After the details are given, we are ready to implement Khan’s decision. “The struggle for constitutional rights, Khan’s release and the restoration of our mandate will continue,” he said.
