TANK — Tuesday, September 8, 2026:
Deputy Commissioner Tank Jamshed Khan has urged local elders, religious scholars and residents to work closely with the administration and police to maintain peace and improve security in the district.
Addressing a peace jirga at his office on Tuesday, the deputy commissioner said lasting peace could not be achieved without active public cooperation. He called for coordinated efforts by the administration, police, security forces, elders and residents to create a safer environment in Tank.
Jamshed Khan said those challenging the writ of the state would be dealt with firmly, adding that law-enforcement agencies were prepared to protect the lives and property of citizens.
He paid tribute to the sacrifices of police personnel and security forces, saying their services and sacrifices would not be forgotten. He also described the families of police martyrs as a source of pride for the nation.
Police seek greater public cooperation
District Police Officer Abdul Samad Khan also stressed the importance of public cooperation in maintaining law and order.
He urged elders and community representatives to play a constructive role in resolving local issues and supporting the administration and police.
During the jirga, elders and religious scholars briefed the administration on the security situation in their respective areas and highlighted issues facing local residents.
The deputy commissioner said all available resources were being utilised to maintain peace in Tank. He assured participants that the administration would remain in contact with the public and local elders to address their concerns.
He also called on jirga participants to strengthen efforts to promote peace, brotherhood and social harmony across the district.
