The Syrian Football Federation has announced changes to the national team’s kit and logo to reflect the country’s political transformation and a new era.
The traditional red color of the team’s uniform has been replaced with green, symbolizing renewal and progress.
This decision follows significant political developments in Syria, where rebels recently took control of the capital, Damascus, without resistance, and President Bashar al-Assad fled to Russia, marking the end of a 13-year civil war.
The federation shared photos of the national team players donning the new green kits on Facebook, describing the change as “historic.”
In a statement, the federation said this is the first major reform in Syrian sports, free from nepotism, favoritism, and corruption.
While political instability and resource shortages have posed significant challenges to the team, Syrian football achieved several regional successes during the 1980s and 1990s.
