Swat Police Officer Martyred in Clash with Drug Smugglers, One Smuggler Killed

SWAT: SHO Manglawar Police Station Inspector Rahim Khan was martyred while Muharrar Attaullah was seriously injured in an exchange of fire with drug smugglers on the main road near People’s Chowk in Mingora city of Swat district. police officials confirmed.
In the police’s retaliatory action, one drug smuggler was also killed while the other managed to escape.
District Police Officer Swat ( DPO) Nasir Mahmood said that SHO Manglawar Police Station Inspector Rahim Khan had received information about drug smuggling in Mingora. On which he tried to stop the drug smugglers riding a motorcycle on the road near People’s Chowk in Mingora.
“A scuffle broke out between the drug smugglers and the police and during this the accused opened fire. As a result, SHO Rahim Khan was martyred while Muharrar Head Constable Attaullah Shah was seriously injured,” he said.
The body of the martyr and the injured officer were shifted to Saidu Teaching Hospital for medical treatment.
DPO Swat said that in the police retaliatory action, a drug smuggler Sharif Khan alias Sharifay, a resident of Banjot (Manglawar), was seriously injured and later died at Saidu Teaching Hospital.
“The second drug smuggler who attacked the police, Ahmed Zeb, a resident of Shangla, has fled from the scene and a search operation is underway in the entire area to arrest him, ” DPO further said.
The funeral of Inspector Rahim Khan, who was martyred, was held with full police honors at Javed Iqbal Shaheed Police Lines Kabal Swat.
Regional Police Officer Malakand Irfanullah, DPO Swat Nasir Mahmood, MNA Dr. Amjad Ali, Additional SP Swat Ghulam Sadiq Khan, SP Headquarters Attaullah Shams and other police officers and soldiers attended the funeral prayer.
“A well-equipped police contingent saluted the martyr’s body and Police officials placed flower bouquets on the body and prayed for the forgiveness of the deceased,”
The body of the martyr was sent to his native village Manpitai (Khwazakhela Tehsil). Where he was buried with official honors.
“Inspector Rahim Khan was born in 1967 in village Manpitai (Khwazakhela), Swat. After intermediate, he joined the police force as a constable on April 07, 1990 and was to retire on January 1, 1927 at the age of 60.
