The Swat district administration has finalised a comprehensive plan to ensure price control, public relief, and smooth service delivery during the holy month of Ramazan, with a focus on preventing profiteering, ensuring cleanliness, and maintaining order in markets.

The plan was reviewed during a meeting chaired by Saleem Jan Marwat, where officials discussed Ramazan community iftar arrangements, establishment of affordable markets, action against hoarding, traffic management, and the mandatory display of official price lists at shops across the district.

The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Additional Deputy Commissioner (Finance and Planning) Syed Noman Ali Shah, Assistant Commissioner Babozai, district food and industries officials, representatives of the Halal Food Authority, WSSP Swat, traffic police, social welfare and livestock departments, TMA officials from all tehsils, and representatives of the Swat Trade Federation.

Officials agreed on measures to prevent unfair profiteering and hoarding, establish complaint desks for citizens, and ensure the uninterrupted supply of essential food items at officially fixed prices. A coordinated plan was also developed to address traffic flow, sanitation, and law and order during peak shopping and iftar hours.

The deputy commissioner directed that administration officials remain present at the Mingora vegetable market during early morning auctions to prepare daily price lists. He said officials would continue monitoring markets until iftar to ensure compliance with official rates and to facilitate citizens.

Specific instructions were issued to the police, WSSC, and Tehsil Municipal Administration to manage traffic congestion, maintain cleanliness at markets and iftar points, and ensure a safe environment for shoppers.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the in-charge of the Prime Minister’s Monitoring and Reporting Unit (PMRU) was directed to compile daily reports on all Ramazan-related operations and submit them to the provincial government.

The deputy commissioner said providing essential food items at affordable prices during Ramazan remains a top priority. He added that special monitoring teams, working in coordination with trade union representatives, have been formed to ensure effective price control and maximum relief for the public across Swat.
