Summer Jeep Rally Promotes Adventure Tourism in Swat

A two-day Summer Jeep Rally was successfully held in Swat district, drawing more than 50 four-wheel drive vehicles from across the country. The event, organized by the Upper Swat Development Authority (USDA), took place at the scenic tourist destinations of Gabin Jabba and Desan Banda Top.

According to the spokesman of USDA, Saeedur Rahman the rally was conducted under the special instructions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Advisor for Tourism and Culture Zahid Chanzeb, as part of ongoing efforts to promote adventure tourism in the province.

“The first leg of the rally began from Chakdara and passed through Kabal and Matta areas, concluding at Gabin Jabba in Matta Tehsil. Participants spent the night in Kalam, and the rally resumed the next morning from Kalam Bazaar, heading towards the high-altitude Desan Banda Top, situated at 13,600 feet above sea level,”

Director General of USDA, Adnan Abrar, led the rally. Drivers navigated through dense forests, natural springs, and rugged mountain tracks, all while enjoying the stunning landscapes and cool weather. Many participants praised the warm hospitality of the local residents.

A standout moment of the rally was the participation of Assistant professor Dr. Maryam from Islamabad, a woman driver who skillfully drove her jeep along the difficult mountain route with her husband and children. Her involvement was hailed as an inspiration, spreading the powerful message that adventure is for everyone regardless of gender.

At Desan Meadows, participants were treated to traditional music and cultural performances, bringing vibrancy to the event and showcasing Swat’s rich heritage.

In conjunction with the rally, the USDA also launched an environmental awareness campaign, urging tourists to keep the area clean and protect the natural beauty of tourist sites.

The rally concluded with a prize distribution ceremony attended by local dignitaries, members of the hotel and jeep associations, government officials, and media representatives. DG USDA Adnan Abrar, along with Assistant Commissioners of Bahrain and Matta, presented shields and certificates to the rally participants.

Organizing staff were also honored with appreciation awards for their dedicated efforts in making the event a success.
