SUJAWAL (Kamran Khamiso Khowaja): A Sujawal employee strike and complete lockdown of offices brought the district to a standstill on Tuesday. Workers from health, education, revenue, and irrigation departments actively participated, demanding that the Sindh government revise its recent pension policies.
The strike, organized by the All Sindh Employees Union, aimed to protest what employees called “faulty and anti-employee” rules. The union vowed to continue the strike until the provincial government quashes the pension regulations.
Public services suffered heavily. Outpatient departments at Civil Hospital Sujawal, Taluka hospitals, and basic health units across the district remained closed, leaving patients without treatment. Many citizens returned home frustrated as their grievances went unaddressed.
Protests erupted outside offices. Leaders from the All Pakistan Clerk Association Health Wing Sujawal and the Pakistan Pera Medical Association Sujawal led demonstrators, condemning the government policies. They stressed that pensions are a basic right for employees who have served the public and the nation for decades.
President APCA, Khamiso Khowaja, warned that the strike would continue until the provincial government meets the employees’ demands. He also indicated that the protest might expand if authorities fail to act promptly.
The strike disrupted educational activities as well. Public schools across the district closed, and teacher associations joined the shutdown, emphasizing solidarity with government employees.
Officials and union representatives called for urgent dialogue to resolve the issue. They highlighted that uninterrupted public service is crucial, but employees also deserve fair pension rules that reflect their long-term contributions.
The Sujawal employee strike demonstrates rising frustration among government workers over policy changes and underlines the need for the Sindh government to engage directly with unions to prevent further disruption.
