Sui Development Package Nears Completion as Six of Eight Projects Finish

ISLAMABAD, August 7, 2026: The federal government has completed six of eight schemes under the Sui Special Development Package, with work continuing on two road projects in Balochistan, official planning documents show.

The PSDP-funded programme, valued at Rs4.698 billion, includes electricity and road infrastructure projects aimed at improving connectivity and basic services in Sui and Dera Bugti. A further Rs256.757 million has been proposed for the package in the 2026-27 financial year.

According to the documents, Rs3.852 billion had been released or spent on the Sui Special Development Package by June 30, 2026.

Three Electrification Schemes Completed

All three electricity projects included in the package have been completed at an approved cost of Rs1.830 billion. Total releases and expenditure for the schemes stood at Rs1.625 billion.

The completed projects include a 132-kilovolt grid station in Sui and a transmission line linking Kashmore with Sui.

A separate 132KV grid station was completed in Dera Bugti along with the Sui-Dera Bugti transmission line. The electrification of villages in Dera Bugti has also been completed under the package.

Three Road Projects Completed

The road component consists of five projects with a combined approved cost of Rs2.868 billion.

Three of the road schemes have been completed at a total project cost of Rs1.229 billion, with Rs1.151 billion released or spent.

The completed works include the blacktopping of roads from Doli Checkpost to Sighari Road and from Dera Bugti to Pirkoh, Habib Rahi Vedara and Killi Murad.

The package also covered improvements to the Sui-Dera Bugti Road and the construction of a blacktopped link road.

Two Road Schemes Remain Under Construction

The two remaining road projects have a combined approved cost of Rs1.639 billion. By June 30, 2026, Rs1.082 billion had been released or spent on the schemes.

The first is the construction of a blacktopped road from Lehri to Sangsila Road under Phase I. The project has an approved cost of Rs841 million, with Rs535 million already released or spent. An additional Rs156 million has been allocated for 2026-27.

The second project involves construction of a 57-kilometre blacktopped road from Sui to Uch Field. It has an approved cost of Rs797.710 million, while releases and expenditure have reached Rs546.953 million.

The government has allocated Rs100.757 million for the Sui-Uch Field road project in the new financial year.

The latest allocations are expected to support completion of the remaining works and bring the wider development package closer to full implementation.
