KOHAT, May 20: Eighty-three students donated blood during a thalassemia awareness seminar and blood donation camp organized by Hamza Foundation Welfare Thalassemia Hospital and Blood Transfusion Services at KIMS Kohat.
The camp was held to support 1,565 registered children with thalassemia and hemophilia who receive care through the Hamza Foundation in Peshawar. Organizers said the activity also aimed to educate students about thalassemia prevention and the importance of regular blood donation.
Students from SWS KIMS Kohat took part in the event. Muhammad Awais Khan, General Secretary SWS, Muhammad Sadeed, Head of Blood Wing, and Hamza Foundation Resource Mobilization Officers Ateeq Ur Rehman and Ibrarullah Jan also attended.
Ateeq Ur Rehman and Ibrarullah Jan briefed students and teachers on the welfare services of Hamza Foundation, thalassemia major and preventive awareness. They also encouraged students to donate blood for patients who depend on regular transfusions.
The participants appreciated the joint efforts of KIMS Kohat and Hamza Foundation for arranging the seminar and donation camp.
Shields and certificates of appreciation were distributed among teaching staff and students.
Hamza Foundation Founder Chairman Ijaz Ali Khan thanked the management of KIMS Kohat for supporting the arrangements and cooperation for the blood donation camp.
