Once there lived a crow and a rabbit in a forest who were very good friends and always helped each other. The crow lived on top of a tree while the rabbit built his house under the said tree. There was a pot in the forest in which rainwater always collected. Both the crow and the rabbit drank water from the same pot.
One day, when the crow saw a hunter coming towards the tree, he shouted and told the rabbit that a hunter had come to the forest. Hearing the crow’s voice, the rabbit hid in the thick bushes behind the tree. The hunter kept wandering in search of prey. When the hunter saw a crow drinking water from the pot, and after a while a rabbit also came to drink water, the hunter shot the rabbit with his gun, and the crow came flying and pecked the hunter’s head with a strong beak. The hunter’s target was startled and the rabbit ran away and hid in the dense bushes.
The hunter was very angry with the crow. He saw that the crow kept coming to drink water from the pot due to the intense heat, so he angrily lit a fire under the pot to kill the crow and was very happy and thought that now if the crow and the rabbit drink the boiling water from this pot, they will die. The hunter started laughing very loudly. The crow got very angry at this action of the hunter. He said to the rabbit, “We will fight this hunter together.” There was no water anywhere around. The hunter started moving around in search of water. When he could not find water anywhere, he regretted it very much. He wished that he had lit a fire under the water so that he could have drunk this water. When the hunter saw any bird or animal, the hunter would aim his gun at it, and the crow would attack its head with its claws and beak. The hunter was very tired of the crow.
The day passed on but because of the crow, the hunter could not find a prey. The hunter and the dog were very tired. The hunter thought, why don’t we sit in the shade of a tree and rest a little. The hunter had some food with him, which included some fruits and cooked meat. The hunter was looking at the pot, thinking that when the crow comes to drink water, he will target it with his gun. The rabbit came from behind the food kept nearby and picked up the food and hid it in the thick bushes.
The hunter felt very hungry, so he thought why not eat food first. When he saw that there was no food there, he thought that the dog had not eaten it, so he beat his dog badly. The hunter was very hungry and thirsty. He was very angry. The crow pecked at the hunter’s head, injuring his head. When evening came, he came out of the bushes, and the hunter and the dog started running after the rabbit. There was a very deep ditch. While running, the hunter stumbled over a stone, and the hunter fell to the ground, and the gun in his hand fell into this deep ditch. It had become even more difficult for the hunter to hunt. The hunter thought that it would be very difficult to live hungry and thirsty in the forest. As evening approached, snakes and scorpions began to appear everywhere in the forest. The hunter started setting a trap to catch his prey, but a scorpion on the ground stung the hunter’s hand. The hunter screamed a lot and could not even set the trap due to the pain. The hunter got very scared and on seeing the snakes, the hunter ran away from the forest. In this way, the hunter was punished.
The crow and the rabbit together saved many animals in the forest from the hunter. The rabbit and the crow were very happy. The rabbit ate the food that the hunter had hidden. They both ate the food with great pleasure. The rabbit ate the fruit and the crow ate the meat. In the evening, the wind blew very strongly and it started to rain. During the rain, the fire went out and then the pot was filled with the fresh and cold water of the rain. The rabbit and the crow drank water to their hearts’ content and were very happy.
Dear children, from this story we get the lesson that we should always stay together and help each other in difficult times so that no enemy can harm us. Because there is blessing in coincidence.
