Swat: Heavy storms and intense rainfall triggered flash floods in several parts of Swat District, damaging homes, disrupting traffic and submerging roads in multiple areas, officials and residents said.

The severe weather caused streams and nullahs to overflow, allowing water to enter houses and shops while several streets turned into temporary ponds.

In the Bangladesh neighborhood of Mingora, a temporary bridge built over a nullah was swept away by strong currents, interrupting local traffic.

On the Grand Trunk Road near Qambar City Center, roads were inundated with rainwater, causing several vehicles to overturn and leaving multiple people injured.

Areas affected by flooding and strong winds

In the Sarsardaray area of Babuzai Tehsil, residents were trapped after a nearby nullah overflowed during the heavy downpour.

Meanwhile, strong winds in Charbagh Tehsil, including the areas of Seray and Ganajir, tore off tin roofs from several houses, creating serious difficulties for local residents.

Landslides were also reported at different locations across the district, further affecting road connectivity and travel.

Drainage concerns in Mingora

In many parts of Mingora city, rainwater accumulated in streets and residential lanes due to poor drainage.

Residents criticized the performance of the Water and Sanitation Services Company Mingora and the district administration for what they described as an inadequate response to the situation.

Local residents have urged authorities to take urgent measures to drain standing water, particularly in the Qambar City Center area, to prevent further disruption and damage.
