Sri Lanka have announced a 15-member squad for the three-match T20I series against Pakistan, with Kusal Mendis named as captain.
Mendis enters the series in strong form after an impressive tour of England. He scored 198 runs across three matches, including a superb 121 in the second ODI.
The Sri Lankan squad also includes Mishara, Jayawardene, Yodara, Sahan Arachchige, Kamindu Mendis, Shanaka and Wickramasinghe.
The spin department will feature Wellalage, Theekshana and Viaskanth, while Chameera, Asitha Fernando, Thushara and Malinga are expected to lead the pace attack.
Asitha Fernando was Sri Lanka’s leading wicket-taker in the recent ODI series against England, claiming seven wickets.
Two key players, Pathum Nissanka and Wanindu Hasaranga, have been ruled out of the squad because of injuries.
Following the three T20Is, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will take part in a five-match ODI tri-series involving England. The teams are then scheduled to play two Test matches, which will form part of the ICC World Test Championship.
The T20I series will provide both sides with an opportunity to fine-tune their squads ahead of the upcoming limited-overs assignments.
