At least three people, including a woman were killed in a tragic accident in the remote area of Banj Karrah, located in Chagharzai Tehsil of Buner district.
A speeding car plunged hundreds of feet into a deep gorge. The deceased are reported to be residents of Lahore, Punjab.
According to the rescue spokesperson , the victims were identified as 64-year-old Muhammad Rafiq, 16-year-old Waqas, and a woman, all of whom died on the spot.
As per the initial report by the district administration, the accident occurred due to over speeding and the driver’s unfamiliarity with driving in mountainous terrain.
Rescue 1122, along with local police, local people carried out the rescue operation. The bodies were recovered from the gorge and shifted to the main road, from where they were transported to district headquarters Hospital Dagar via rescue ambulance for legal formalities.
After completion of the necessary procedures, the bodies will be handed over to their families for burial in their native town.
It is worth noting that Chagharzai is a remote hilly region where accidents frequently occur due to speeding and lack of familiarity with the mountainous roads.
Locals have urged the district administration to install warning signs and improve road safety measures to prevent further loss of life.
