Islamabad: South Korea’s national hockey team has arrived in Pakistan for a historic tour from July 27 to August 8, during which the two sides will play 4 international test matches at the Nasir Bunda Hockey Stadium in Islamabad.
According to the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination the South Korean team’s visit will give new impetus to the revival of international hockey activities in Pakistan and mark an important step toward promoting the national sport.
Advisor to the Prime Minister on Inter-Provincial Coordination Rana Sanaullah, said the South Korean team’s tour is a historic development toward the revival of the national game in Pakistan. He added that the visit will also help highlight Pakistan’s image as a peaceful and secure country on the global stage.
Federal Secretary for Inter-Provincial Coordination Mohyuddin Wani said the tour will play a key role in Pakistan’s sports diplomacy and in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
The statement added that the Government of Pakistan will provide the South Korean national hockey team with high-level security, protocol, and other administrative facilities to ensure the tour is completed successfully and smoothly.
It is worth noting that ahead of the Hockey World Cup from August 15 to 30, the Pakistan hockey team will play the 4-match test series against South Korea.
The International Hockey Federation has officially announced the schedule for the 2026 Hockey World Cup. Pakistan’s team is participating in the mega event after an 8-year gap.
According to the schedule, the World Cup will be held in the Netherlands from August 15 to 30. Top hockey teams including Pakistan and India will compete for the trophy over 15 days.
The Green Shirts will begin their campaign on Saturday, August 15 against England. The match will start at 10:00 PM Pakistan Time.
Pakistan will play its second match against Wales on Monday, August 17 at 3:30 PM Pakistan Time.
The biggest match of the tournament between traditional rivals Pakistan and India will be played on Wednesday, August 19 at 6:00 PM Pakistan Time.
