The Sindh government has introduced a watermarking system to prevent exam paper leaks and strengthen oversight during the upcoming board examinations, as more than 1.3 million students prepare to sit for annual tests across the province.

The decision was announced during a high-level meeting chaired by Sindh Minister for Universities and Educational Boards, Ismail Rahu, where officials reviewed exam arrangements, security protocols, and measures to ensure transparency in the 2026 examination cycle.

Over 1.3 million students to appear across Sindh

According to officials, approximately 1,353,258 students from grades 9 to 12 will take exams starting April 7 at more than 1,600 centres across Sindh.

In Karachi, examinations for grades 9 and 10 will begin on April 7, while intermediate exams for grades 11 and 12 are scheduled from April 25. In Sukkur division, matric exams will start on March 30, followed by intermediate exams on April 15.

Enhanced monitoring and strict enforcement

Authorities said a provincial complaint cell will be established at the Secretary of Boards’ office to monitor examination centres and support vigilance teams in real time.

Officials have also been directed to ensure uninterrupted electricity, adequate seating, and access to drinking water at all centres. Mobile phones will be banned inside exam premises, and Section 144 will be enforced to maintain discipline and restrict unauthorised activity.

E-marking introduced in selected regions

As part of broader reforms, e-marking will be implemented in multiple regions. All exams in Sukkur and Shaheed Benazirabad divisions will be evaluated digitally, while the Larkana Board will apply e-marking to selected papers across grades 9 to 12.
