KARACHI — The Sindh government is planning to add more buses to Karachi’s public transport network in an effort to reduce traffic congestion and improve affordable commuting options across the city.
Officials said additional vehicles will be deployed on high-demand routes to cut waiting times and manage overcrowding. The expansion is part of broader measures aimed at modernizing Karachi’s urban transport infrastructure and improving daily travel conditions for residents.
Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city, has long struggled with limited route coverage and packed buses, particularly during peak hours. Authorities believe increasing fleet size will enhance passenger comfort, safety and overall accessibility.
In addition to expanding the number of buses, officials indicated that improved scheduling systems and regular maintenance protocols are being planned to ensure reliable service delivery.
The move forms part of wider urban mobility reforms designed to strengthen public transport capacity and reduce pressure on private vehicles in the metropolis.
