Sindh Govt’s Scholarship Initiative Sets New Benchmarks for Student Well-Being and Learning

KARACHI: The Sindh Education Foundation (SEF), Government of Sindh, has shared preliminary findings of a research study examining student well-being and learning experiences in boarding schools operating under the Sindh School Education Scholarship Program (SSESP).

The dissemination meeting, held at the SEF Head Office in Karachi, brought together academic leaders, institutional partners, and senior education officials to review the study titled “Exploring Well-Being and Learning Experience of Students in Boarding Schools under SSESP.”

Research Highlights Student Well-Being and Academic Engagement

The session was jointly chaired by Managing Director SEF, Gahanwer Ali Laghari, and Vice Chancellor Sukkur IBA University, Prof. Dr. Asif Ahmed. The research was presented by the Research and Publication Unit (RPU) led by Ms. Shazia Solangi, highlighting key insights related to students’ academic engagement, psychosocial well-being, and overall boarding school experience.

Participants discussed practical and evidence-based measures to improve student support systems, promote inclusive learning environments, and enhance overall educational outcomes in SSESP-supported boarding schools.

SEF Emphasizes Evidence-Based Policy and Student Welfare

Addressing the gathering, MD SEF Gahanwer Ali Laghari said the research provides critical evidence to assess both strengths and gaps within the scholarship program.

“The Government of Sindh is investing in meritorious students by enabling access to quality education at reputable institutions. It is now our collective responsibility to ensure that this investment translates into meaningful learning outcomes and student well-being,” he said.

Sukkur IBA VC Calls for Shared Institutional Responsibility

Prof. Dr. Asif Ahmed, Vice Chancellor of Sukkur IBA University, appreciated SEF and its research team for conducting a timely and comprehensive study. He said the findings offer a strong foundation for informed decision-making and collective action.

“When parents entrust their children to boarding schools, it becomes a shared moral and institutional responsibility to ensure their safety, emotional well-being, and quality education,” he noted, urging partner institutions to address identified concerns collaboratively.

Strong Participation from Education Stakeholders

The meeting was attended by Deputy Managing Director SEF Ms. Shahpara Rizvi, Directors and Deputy Directors of SEF, and Principals of IBA Community Colleges, reflecting strong institutional engagement and a shared commitment to improving student learning experiences across Sindh.

Officials said the findings would help guide future improvements in the SSESP, reinforcing Sindh’s commitment to student-centered, evidence-driven education reforms.
