KARACHI: Sindh has made a breakthrough in agriculture by becoming the first region in Pakistan to grow jackfruit, also known as Kathal. This fruit was previously cultivated only in neighboring countries such as India and Bangladesh, making it a significant development for local agriculture.
The areas selected for this innovative project are Tando Jam and Tando Allahyar in Sindh. This initiative is expected to bring positive changes to the agricultural landscape of the region.
Officials believe the planting of jackfruit will create sustainable economic opportunities for local farmers and communities.
Jackfruit trees, once fully mature, can produce up to 500 fruits per year, indicating a strong potential for harvest. This new cultivation not only diversifies the crops in Sindh but also opens up opportunities for farmers to improve their livelihoods through the growth of this valuable fruit.
