ZURICH: FIFA has released “Dai Dai” as the official anthem for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, featuring Colombian singer Shakira and Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy.

The multilingual track combines Latin and Afrobeats influences and includes references to several countries participating in the tournament. FIFA said the song was created as part of its global promotion for the 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.

In one section of the song, Shakira mentions countries including Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Japan, South Korea and the Netherlands. The anthem alternates between English and multilingual elements as the two artists trade verses before joining together in the chorus.

FIFA announces halftime show lineup

The anthem’s release follows FIFA’s recent announcement that Madonna, Shakira and BTS will headline the tournament’s first-ever final halftime show on July 19 at MetLife Stadium. The show’s lineup was curated by Chris Martin.

According to FIFA, the event will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which aims to raise $100 million to improve access to education and football for children worldwide.

Shakira previewed “Dai Dai” last week through a video filmed at Maracanã Stadium. She previously performed Waka Waka (This Time for Africa), the official song of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

FIFA regularly partners with international artists and brands to produce official music linked to the tournament. Earlier this year, Coca-Cola released a separate World Cup-themed anthem featuring J Balvin, Travis Barker, Amber Mark and Steve Vai.
