ISLAMABAD, August 5: Former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Afridi has appealed to tourists visiting the country’s northern areas to help protect the natural environment by disposing of waste responsibly and avoiding littering.
In a video shared on social media, Afridi encouraged people to enjoy the region’s scenic beauty while respecting the environment. His message comes as thousands of domestic tourists continue to visit northern destinations during the summer season.
Afridi calls for responsible tourism
“I’ve made this request before, and I’m making it again,” Afridi said in the video. “Please visit these beautiful places, enjoy your time, but don’t leave your garbage behind.”
The video also shows the former cricketer collecting litter from different locations, highlighting the importance of community participation in keeping tourist destinations clean.
Plans for dustbins and a cricket pitch
Afridi said he plans to install dustbins in the area to encourage visitors to dispose of waste properly and help maintain the cleanliness of popular tourist sites.
He also announced that, following requests from local children, a cricket pitch would be prepared before Pakistan’s Independence Day on August 14, giving young residents a dedicated place to play.
His appeal has drawn attention to the growing need for responsible tourism and environmental conservation in Pakistan’s mountainous regions.
