ISLAMABAD — The Senior Management Course visit to the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Headquarters offered a comprehensive overview of Islamabad’s urban planning and civic development. On Wednesday, faculty members and trainee officers of the 38th Senior Management Course, under the National Institute of Public Administration, were welcomed by Member Planning and Design Dr. Khalid Hafiz, Member Finance Tahir Naeem, and senior CDA officials.
Dr. Khalid Hafiz briefed the participants on CDA’s objectives, administrative structure, and operational framework. He explained that Islamabad was built according to a Master Plan divided into five zones, each governed by zoning regulations. The briefing covered the city’s planning principles and the challenges currently facing the capital.
To address Islamabad’s water issues, CDA has launched “Islamabad Water,” a dedicated initiative focused on improving water resource management and future supply. The Senior Management Course visit also included insights into the city’s transport system, which now features four metro bus routes and 160 electric feeder buses. Officials highlighted that Islamabad’s mass transit network is fully integrated with Google Maps, offering real-time station data.
Participants received updates on solid waste management, CDA’s budget structure, and revenue sources. The briefing also showcased environment-friendly initiatives, including a large-scale tree plantation drive, digital parking systems, and enforcement against illegal constructions and encroachments.
CDA officials emphasized their commitment to making Islamabad a model city through continuous development and citizen-focused services. A question-and-answer session allowed participants to discuss civic challenges and explore practical solutions.
At the conclusion of the Senior Management Course visit, CDA presented commemorative shields to faculty members. Group photos were taken, and best wishes were extended to the officers for their promotion from Grade 19 to Grade 20, with hopes they will contribute meaningfully to Pakistan’s progress.
