ISLAMABAD, September 27 — Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Sunday congratulated the Pakistan Navy on the successful first live weapon firing by its newly inducted Hangor-class submarine, describing the achievement as an important advancement in the country’s maritime defence capabilities.
In a statement issued by the Senate Secretariat, Gilani congratulated Pakistan Navy officers and personnel as well as the nation on the milestone.
He said the successful live weapon firing demonstrated the Navy’s professional expertise, modern combat capabilities and operational preparedness.
The Senate chairman said the Pakistan Navy had consistently played an important role in defending the country’s maritime frontiers and safeguarding national interests.
Gilani praises Navy’s operational preparedness
Gilani appreciated efforts under Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf to strengthen the Navy’s operational capabilities and modernise Pakistan’s maritime defence in line with evolving requirements.
He said the Hangor submarine, equipped with modern technology and combat systems, represented an important addition to Pakistan’s naval defence capabilities.
The Senate chairman also highlighted defence and technical cooperation between Pakistan and China, saying the partnership was contributing to strengthening Pakistan’s defence capabilities.
Gilani paid tribute to Pakistan Navy officers and personnel for their professionalism and services to national defence, saying the nation was proud of the armed forces and their commitment to protecting the country.
