ISLAMABAD: Pakistani actress Sehar Hashmi has spoken out about issues faced by artists in the drama industry, questioning producers’ alleged unprofessional behaviour and delays in paying performers.

Hashmi, who made her acting debut with the drama serial Zulm, has gained recognition over the past two to three years. She received considerable appreciation following her performance in Shedai, while her portrayal of Shehr Bano in Zanjeerain further strengthened her popularity among viewers.

The actress is also set to appear as the younger version of Khushbakht in the upcoming drama Dar-e-Nijaat.

Hashmi raised the issue of delayed payments through an Instagram story, highlighting what she described as a double standard in the industry’s treatment of artists.

She pointed out that an artist who delays work by even a single day may be labelled unprofessional, whereas payments that remain pending for months are often dismissed as an accounts-related issue.

Her remarks have sparked renewed discussion about professional accountability, timely compensation and the rights of artists working in Pakistan’s entertainment industry.
