RAWALPINDI – Security forces carried out two intelligence-based operations in North Waziristan on December 1, resulting in the deaths of seven suspected militants reportedly linked to a foreign-backed group.
Engagement in Mir Ali
According to official sources, the first operation took place in the Mir Ali area following reports of militant presence. Security personnel engaged the suspects in an exchange of fire, during which six individuals were killed.
Second Operation in Spinwam
A separate operation was conducted in the Spinwam area, where one more suspect was killed during a similar exchange. Authorities stated that weapons and ammunition were recovered from both sites.
Recovered Arms and Ongoing Efforts
The deceased individuals were reportedly involved in attacks targeting security forces, law enforcement agencies, and civilians. Officials confirmed that sanitization operations are ongoing in the region to locate and neutralize any remaining threats.
Counter-Terrorism Campaign Continues
The operations are part of Pakistan’s broader counter-terrorism efforts under the framework of “Azm-e-Istehkam,” a national security initiative approved by the Federal Apex Committee. Security forces and law enforcement agencies have reiterated their commitment to continuing actions against foreign-sponsored militant activity.
