ISLAMABAD, May 21, 2026: Security forces have killed a highly wanted militant commander along with four other terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in Spinwam area of North Waziristan, security sources said on Thursday.
According to security sources, the killed commander was identified as Umar, also known as Jan Mir and Tor Saqib. He was reportedly a key commander of Fitna al-Khawarij and carried a head money of Rs3 million.
Sources said the militant commander was allegedly involved in planning several attacks on security forces and civilians in the region.
Security sources further said Umar, also known as Saqib Tor, had established underground bunkers, tunnels and explosive traps near the Bobali Mosque area in Spinwam.
The security forces, acting on intelligence reports, surrounded the militants under a coordinated strategy and killed them during the operation, sources added.
Security experts said the killing of the wanted commander would help restore peace in the area and described it as a major blow to Fitna al-Khawarij.
They added that operations against Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan were continuing successfully under Operation Azm-e-Istehkam.
