RAWALPINDI: Four militants linked to what Pakistan’s security agencies describe as an India-sponsored network were killed in a series of intelligence-based operations in multiple districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on November 17 and 18, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Wednesday.

Operations in Bajaur and North Waziristan

According to ISPR, security forces carried out an intelligence-based operation in Bajaur after reports of militant presence. Troops engaged the suspects and killed one militant after an exchange of fire.

In separate operations in the Spinwam and Zakir Khel areas of North Waziristan, two more militants were killed. ISPR said the men had been involved in terror activities within the region.

Encounter in Dera Ismail Khan

In another encounter in Dera Ismail Khan, security forces killed one more militant during an engagement. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the suspects killed during these actions, the statement added.

Follow-up sanitization underway

ISPR said sanitization operations are underway after the operation by security forces in targeted areas to locate and eliminate remaining threats. The statement reaffirmed that the country’s counterterrorism campaign under the national strategy Azm-e-Istehkam, approved by the Federal Apex Committee, will continue to counter “foreign-sponsored terrorism.”
