Rawalpindi: Security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in the general area of Khar in Bajaur district on December 29 following reports of the presence of Khwarij belonging to the Indian-sponsored group Fitna al Khwarij, according to an official statement.
During the operation, own troops engaged the terrorists, resulting in the killing of five Indian-sponsored Khwarij during an exchange of fire. Officials said the engagement took place as troops moved to clear the area.
Major Adeel Zaman embraces shahadat during operation
During the intense fire exchange, Major Adeel Zaman, 36, a resident of Dera Ismail Khan district, was martyred while leading his troops from the front. According to the statement, the officer embraced shahadat during the operation carried out by security forces.
Officials said weapons and ammunition were recovered from the killed Khwarij. The statement said the individuals were involved in multiple terrorist activities against security forces, law enforcement agencies, and civilians.
Security forces continue sanitization operations in area
Following the operation, the forces initiated sanitization operations in the area to eliminate any remaining Indian-sponsored Khwarij. Officials said the operations are continuing in the region.
