RAWALPINDI — Pakistani security forces killed 24 militants during two separate intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Orakzai and Khyber districts on February 4 and 5, 2026, the military’s media wing said, as authorities continued a nationwide counterterrorism campaign.
In a statement, Inter-Services Public Relations said the operations were launched after credible intelligence reports about the presence of militants in the two districts. The actions are part of ongoing efforts to curb militant violence and prevent attacks on civilians and security personnel.
According to ISPR, security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in Orakzai District, where troops engaged the militants’ location following an exchange of fire. Fourteen militants were killed during the operation.
A second intelligence-based operation was carried out in Khyber District, resulting in the killing of 10 more militants after another firefight, the statement said.
ISPR added that sanitisation operations were under way in the affected areas to ensure no remaining militants were present. It said the counterterrorism campaign was being conducted under the national security framework approved by the federal leadership to address what it described as externally supported militancy.
Balochistan operation concludes
In a separate statement, ISPR said security forces had concluded Operation Radd-ul-Fitna-1 in Balochistan, a series of coordinated and intelligence-driven operations launched late last month.
Operation Radd-ul-Fitna-1 concludes in Balochistan with 216 militants killed, ISPR says
The operation began on January 29, 2026, in parts of Panjgur and the outskirts of Harnai District, after verified intelligence indicated an imminent threat to public safety. ISPR said operations against identified hideouts led to the killing of 41 militants in the initial phase.
According to the military, follow-up intelligence-based operations were carried out across multiple areas to dismantle sleeper cells and militant infrastructure. ISPR said a total of 216 militants were killed during the course of Operation Radd-ul-Fitna-1, significantly weakening their leadership and operational capabilities.
The military said a large quantity of weapons, ammunition, explosives and equipment of foreign origin was recovered during the operations. ISPR also reported that 36 civilians, including women and children, and 22 security personnel were killed during the course of the counterterrorism actions.
Authorities said security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue operations to maintain security and prevent militant attacks.
